Box office: Rajinikanth-Akshay's 2.0 chugs along in Hindi with Rs18 crore on day two

Director S Shankar's film saw a minor drop, but recovered to take its box office collection for the Hindi dubbed version to Rs38 crore. 

While it is primarily a Tamil film dubbed into Hindi, the 3D spectacle of director S Shankar's 2.0 seems to have worked its magic in the northern region too. The film's Hindi version managed to keep its second day drop to a minimal and add Rs18 crore to its collection. The film now has Rs38 crore at the box office over two days. 

2.0 has already managed quite an impressive opening, with its Tamil and Telugu collections rising to Rs40 crore on the opening day.

According to Boxofficeindia.com, the film's Hindi version has not been too bad with a decent performance in the sectors of Delhi, UP, Bihar and Central India. The film's Hindi version has already made an above average impression in Mumbai and West Bengal. 

This could also be attributed to the appeal of Akshay Kumar across these regions. 

One of the most expensive Indian films, 2.0 opened with Rs75 crore nett across India on Thursday. The Tamil and Telugu speaking states alone accounted for Rs40 crore according to Boxofficeindia.com. This puts the Rs38 crore nett earning for Hindi in perspective.

However, the film's budget exceeds Rs500 crore, making it important for it to hold a good run across 2-3 weeks in ensuring a decent collection at the box office. According to boxofficeindia.com, the film's performance overseas has been nothing to boast about. This makes the next week vital for the success of the film.
