National Award film Ventilator goes Gujarati with Jackie Shroff: See poster

The actor plays the character essayed by Ashutosh Gowariker in the 2016 Marathi film.

The Gujarati remake of the National Award-winning Marathi film Ventilator (2016) has its first poster. The film, also called, Ventilator, stars Jackie Shroff in the lead role. It has been adapted into Gujarati by Falguni Patel and Lawrence D'Souza. Original writer-director Rajesh Mapuskar is the creative director on the film.

Directed by Umang Vyas, the film also stars Pratik Gandhi, Sanjay Goradia, Bhairavi Vaidya, Mehul Buch, Archan Trivedi, Jayesh More, Mitra Gadhvi, Manan Desai, Rawal Ojas, SuchitaTrivedi, Tejal Vyas and others who make the large extended family. The film centres around Shroff’s character and his vast family, all of whom gather at a hospital when their relative falls ill and has to be put on a ventilator.

The whole family, including a smiling Shroff, looking very different from his Hindi films, gather for a family photograph in this first poster from the film.

Mapuskar is also making a cameo on the film, taking up the cameo actress-producer Priyanka Chopra does in the original. He plays a director who conveys the news of a relative's illness to Shroff's character. The film was shot in Filmcity, however, Mapuskar didn't have to speak Gujarati in the film, he spoke his lines in Hindi and English.

Ventilator is due to be released on 14 September.
