The posters suggest the film could be about one man raising his voice against the rising power tariffs.

Two new posters of director Shree Narayan Singh's Batti Gul Meter Chalu have been released.

The first poster has a view of the city reflected through a bulb. It also has an image of an electricity bill in the background. It carries the tagline: ‘fused bulb se kranti nahi layi ja sakti [A fused bulb cannot usher in a revolution].

The second poster has actor Shahid Kapoor perched on what looks like an electricity tower. Is he taking his protest to a whole new level?

The posters suggest the film could be about one man raising his voice against the rising power tariffs. The fused bulb could also be a metaphor for eyes blind to a pressing issue. Ushering an electrifying revolution seems to be on Kapoor’s character's mind.

There were murmurs that the film could be inspired by the documentary Katiyabaaz (2013), but speaking to Cinestaan.com last year, director Singh had rubbished the buzz.

Set in Uttarakhand, the film also stars Shraddha Kapoor and Yami Gautam. The trio is being cast together for the first time. The makers will be unveil the trailer on 10 August.

Batti Gul Meter Chalu will be released on 21 September.
