Stree song: Nora Fatehi shakes her ‘Kamariya’ to the delight of Rajkummar Rao, Aparshakti Khurana

The second song from Stree, directed by Amar Kaushik, features actress-dancer Nora Fatehi who mesmerizes the men of Chanderi. In the small town where the horror comedy Stree is set, the men strangely disappear, so this encounter with a beautiful woman may not end well for the besotted men in the song.

Composed by Sachin-Jigar, this rustic number is sung by Aastha Gill, Divya Kumar and composers Sachin Sanghvi and Jigar Saraiya. The lyrics are penned by Vayu. However, from the beginning, the song seems strangely familiar and the beats of this track seem heavily inspired by the popular Latin number ‘Mi Gente’ by J Balvin and Willy William.

The short number, though, is salvaged by Fatehi’s moves. The capable dancer is joined in exuberance by Rajkummar, whose character is hesitant at first and later, gets into the groove. Aparshakti Khurana is also seen in the song.

Like the film’s first song ‘Milegi Milegi’, ‘Kamariya’ has also been choreographed by Filmfare award-winning choreographer Vijay Ganguly. Both songs have created an upbeat mood for the setting of the film.

Interestingly, the titles for the songs are all in Hindi instead of English. This is likely due to the recent ruling by the ministry of information and broadcasting that asked filmmakers to put their credits in Hindi so everyone can read them.

Stree, also starring Shraddha Kapoor and Pankaj Tripathi, is due to be released on 31 August.
