National Award-winning composer and singer Anupam Roy’s single 'Kalboishakhi' from the album of the same name is a song about love seen in retrospection. The album is a joint venture by the singer and Sree Venkatesh Films (SVF) Pvt. Ltd.

Roy's popularity has grown in both Bengali and Hindi films over the years. Recently, his compositions in SVF's Drishtikone (2018), Uma (2018) and songs from Pari (2018) and October (2018) were loved by the audience.

'Kalboishakhi' is the Bengali term for the fierce storm before the first shower of summer. The song is a romantic number with surreal visuals narrating two parallel love stories with the singer creating magical sequences with his song. Urban yet soft, this song is made with an attempt to revive the modern Bengali music outside films.

The lyrics, also penned by Roy, speak of the nuanced feelings of love with a touch of nostalgia and innocence of a teenager. Fascination and longing for the beloved have also been put through simple and meaningful words by Roy.

In the song, the singer is seen to have taken shelter in a storm. Soon a lady also comes under the same shade and they exchange glances. The visual then shift to a young couple romancing in a different location. The song, thus, keeps shifting from one narrative to the other, bringing out the essence of both distance and union in a romantic relationship.

Also, the magical touch in the visuals lends it a dreamy effect, reflecting the state of the mind of the lovers.

“I feel there is no better way to express love or the idea of falling in love than through music. 'Kalboishakhi' hits the right chord by being a fresh, contemporary song that the audience can relate with,” said Roy.

The video has been conceptualised and shot by director duo Tathagata Mukherjee and Debleena Dutta.
