Actor R Madhavan is set to return to television as a host of an upcoming National Geographic series, Mega Icons. The show will chronicle the lives of five icons — Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli, former president late Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, spiritual leader Dalai Lama, actor Kamal Haasan and India's first female IPS officer Kiran Bedi.
“We enjoy watching each ball rushing towards the fence from Virat's bat. And the excellence that Kamal Hassan brings to the silver screen. But sometimes, we all sit back and wonder — what really has made these icons what they are today? Were these personalities just born to be great, and their success defined from day one? Or did their journey through life, their experiences and hard work, really shape them into the giants we revere. I am excited to join National Geographic to decode this mystery, and bring to viewers a completely new and incredible perspective of what really goes into making an icon,” Madhavan said in a statement.
Madhavan had begun his career with television. He had featured in a host of TV shows such as Yule Love Stories (1993), Banegi Apni Baat (1993), and the popular, Sea Hawks (1997). The 48-year-old has earlier hosted TV shows likes Tol Mol Ke Bol and the popular game show Deal Ya No Deal.
