Age is just a number when you are Dharmendra. The 82-year-old is still fit and raring to go for his next, Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se. Dharmendra will be joined by 72-year-old Shatrughan Sinha as both will be seen together on the big screen after 20 years. The duo were last seen together in KC Bokadia's Zulm-O-Sitam (1998).
Dharmendra couldn’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia.
“We have been close ever since Dost (1974), our first film together. His birthday is on 9 December while mine is a day earlier. He would bring gifts for my birthday and I jokingly flung them at him saying, ‘take it back’. We are like family. Shatru is like a younger brother to me. His wife Poonam played my younger sister in Aadmi Aur Insaan (1969), her second film," recalled Dharmendra.
The 82-year-old didn’t reveal much, but he shed some light on their characters in the film. “He’s playing a judge and I’m a lawyer. It’s interesting because he must do his duty as well as maintain our relationship. I can’t reveal more because it will give the story out.”
Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se, directed by Punjabi filmmaker Navniat Singh in his Hindi film debut, also stars actress Kriti Kharbanda opposite Bobby Deol. The film is due to be released on 31 August.
