'Nazarbattu' song: Bobby Deol's romantic dance number is a little too ordinary

Bobby Deol might not be everyone's idea of the romantic hero, but Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se will see the actor play one. The second song from the film, 'Nazarbattu' captures the essence of a lover seeking to protect his love against all kinds of superstitions in the world. Sung by Sachet Tandon, the song is composed by the duo of Sachet-Parampara.
While the visuals are fairly colourful with a tint of fuchsia pink to embody the romance, they are nothing out of the ordinary. There is little to speak about visually other than Deol mooning around Kriti Kharbanda's new entry into the story. The choreography is a disappointment, as there is very little to speak about it in terms of movement. Even the side actors in the video look bored. While Deol tries his best to appear enchanted, and Kharbanda looks fairly serene, the visuals fail to attract.
The song itself is a staple romantic number that feels familiar in style and theme. The composition is staccato, and at times drops in rhythm and melody. It is fairly hummable, owing to its opening section, the freshness fades away by the second stanza. The lyrics by Pulkit Rishi are not very memorable either.
This might be a nice change of pace, but still leaves a lot to fulfill.
Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se, also starring Dharmendra and Sunny Deol, is set to be released on 31 August.
