The teaser of Kaushik Ganguly’s upcoming film Kishore Kumar Junior is creating ripples through the social media. It was launched on the 89th birth anniversary of the legendary singer-actor-director on 4 August. Coincidentally, director Ganguly too celebrates his birthday on the same day.
In the film, Prosenjit Chatterjee will be seen essaying the character of Kishore Konthi, a vocalist who forms his career singing only Kishore Kumar’s songs. The film will throw light on the life of many such singers, and not focus on an individual character.
Responding to the positive response for the teaser, Chatterjee told The Times of India, a daily, “I am flooded with messages. This film is my tribute to the legendary singer Kishore Kumar, who has a huge contribution to my career. Besides, the film is also dedicated to hundreds of those talented artistes who fail to make a mark of their own and live as Konthis of stalwart singers like Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle and many more.”
Perhaps, no one could have done more justice to the role of the protagonist in the film than Chatterjee, as his debut film, Pratisodh (1981), had a superhit song sung by Kishore Kumar himself.
Kishore Kumar Junior will be released during the Durga Puja holidays. The teaser shows that the waiting for both the film and the puja has begun as an artist is about to start performing at a concert. The teaser didn't show Chatterjee’s face, generating anticipation for the look that Chatterjee will sport in the film.
The film's songs have been sung by Kumar Sanu and the music is composed by Indraadip Dasgupta.
