While Motwane will not wear the director’s hat this time, Anurag Kashyap, the other director of season 1, will continue to do so.

Sacred Games features two stories running in parallel. The present-day story features inspector Sartaj Singh (Saif Ali Khan) while the past story is that of gangster Ganesh Gaitonde (Nawazuddin Siddiqui). Motwane had directed the story of Sartaj Singh in the first season while Kashyap helmed the story of Gaitonde.
