Mumbai police fails to get Saif Ali Khan's statement on Bulgarian hunting expedition, Interpol not happy

Interpol has sent a reminder to Mumbai police for failing to respond to a questionnaire sent by the Bulgarian judicial authorities regarding the alleged default in payment by actor Saif Ali Khan over a wild boar hunting expedition in 2013. The Mumbai police had spoken with Khan back in June regarding the incident. However, reports now suggest that the actor had asked for some time to recollect the incident which took place in 2013. 

Khan, alongwith three of his friends, had gone on a wild boar hunting expedition in the Carpathian mountain range in Romania in November 2013. The group had hired the services of a company that specialises in acquiring hunting licenses, and arms licenses for such expedition. However, while the actor's group made a part payment directly to the firm, the rest was paid through an agent. 

The agent has now been taken into custody by the judicial authorities, following which the actor and his friends were served a questionnaire by the Bulgarian police. 

Indian Express, a daily, quoted a source from Mumbai police as saying, "The hunting cost them around 24,000 euros [Rs19 lakh, approximately], of which 14,000 euros [Rs11 lakh, approximately] was paid in cash by the actor. However, after he left Bulgaria, the company contacted him again asking for the full payment. He informed that the money was transferred to the agent’s account."

Khan was previously a co-accused in the infamous black-buck hunting expedition alongside his Hum Saath-Saath Hain (1999) co-stars Salman Khan, Neelam, and Sonali Bendre Behl. The actor, along with Neelam and Bendre Behl, was acquitted of all charges while Salman Khan was convicted and is currently out on bail.
