Mohan Raja announces Thani Oruvan 2 with brother Jayam Ravi

Well-known director Mohan Raja, better known as Jayam Raja, has made an announcement that is bound to please his fans and those of his younger brother Jayam Ravi.

The director announced that the two will be working on a sequel to Thani Oruvan (2015), a blockbuster which is Jayam Ravi's biggest hit so far.

The announcement came even as the team of Thani Oruvan celebrated the film's completion of three years.

Mohan Raja, who put out a video clip with the announcement, said, “The success and love the audience and fans have showered upon Thani Oruvan leaves me with no option but to offer them more."

The director said the new film will aim to meet the expectations of fans: "We are already in talks with top technicians and actors for substantial characters. Thani Oruvan 2 will have a similar premise of a social backdrop with attempts being made to bring up an engrossing cat-and-mouse game between the protagonist and the antagonist.”

Thani Oruvan had Jayam Ravi playing a police officer taking on an extremely smart criminal, played by Arvind Swamy. Nayanthara had played the female lead.

Thani Oruvan 2, sources say, will have Jayam Ravi reprising the role he had essayed in the first film, but with new challenges. None of the other characters have been cast so far.
