Balancing both work and activism, actress Richa Chadha has been handling the shoot of her upcoming film on actress Shakeela and lending support to the rebuilding effort in Kerala after the floods. Chadha's co-star on the biopic, Rajeev Pillai, cancelled his wedding to help those affected in his native village in the state. She joined him in raising funds for relief organizations across Kerala.

The actress, who is also active about animal welfare, also supported the NGO, ResQ, whose volunteers went down to Kerala to help out animals stranded and abandoned in the floods. She raised awareness for their cause and efforts on her social media accounts and how people could pitch in to help as well.

Since the flood waters have subsided, the people of Kerala are planning to return back to their former lives and trying to rebuild. The actress, with help from Pillai, has also been trying to identify and help those children who might need financial assistance in their education in these difficult times. Chadha will pay for the education of five young children until the 10th standard.

Chadha's next film, Love Sonia (2018), for which she won the Best Supporting Actress award at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, is due to be released on 14 September.
