Actress Soundarya Sharma, last seen in Ranchi Diaries (2017), yesterday (28 August) announced that she was a part of the upcoming DC Universe sequel, Wonder Woman 1984 (2019), starring Gal Gadot and Chris Pine.

In a statement to IANS, a news agency, the actress had said, “This I can say is a ‘dream coming true’ situation. It’s exhilarating to be a part of such a larger than life character film where you get to play your dream role. I have always dreamt of playing such a character and idolised it.”

However, Umberto Gonzalez, the founder and editor in chief of HeroicHollywood.com and a film reporter for TheWrap.com, refuted Sharma’s casting in the sequel. Gonzalez has been known to break several casting news and scoops for the films of the Star Wars, Marvel and DC Universe.

Sharma denied her previous statement to IANS. She alleged in the same interview with The Times of India that "I think people have just connected the dots and have come up with a conclusion of their own. On my part, I can just wish this be true. I should just hope that I have some real news to share on this."

Wonder Woman 1984, directed by Patty Jenkins, is due to be released on 1 November 2019.
