Box office: Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi earns Rs1.75 crore on Monday, Genius makes Rs50 lakh

Director Mudassar Aziz’s Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi, which is the sequel to his own Happy Bhag Jayegi (2016), managed a decent hold on its first Monday yesterday (27 August). The film earned Rs1.75 crore on the day, as per figures shared by Boxofficeindia.com.

The film had made Rs11.25 crore in the weekend. Starring Sonakshi Sinha, Jimmy Sheirgill, Jassie Gill, Diana Penty and Ali Fazal, Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi has so far made a total of Rs13 crore.

As per trade sources, the film is made at an estimated budget of Rs30 crore. Therefore, the film’s total earnings so far is not quite encouraging. It still has a long way to go reach its cost of production. 

Anil Sharma’s Gadar, which launched his son Utkarsh Sharma in Hindi cinema, has been a disaster at the box office. Earning only Rs50 lakh yesterday, the film has managed a total of only Rs3.50 crore against its estimated budget of Rs25 crore. The film is staring at a major defeat at the ticket window.

Meanwhile, Gold, starring Akshay Kumar, and Satyameva Jayate, starring John Abraham, made Rs1.25 crore and Rs1 crore, respectively on second Monday yesterday. Gold's earnings have slowed down and the film has so far made Rs98.60 crore. The film’s estimated budget of Rs85 crore has stopped it from being a success.

On the other hand, Satyameva Jayate is made at Rs50 crore and has so far earned an impressive Rs73.35 crore.
