Hrithik Roshan, seven others named in cheating case by Chennai city police

The police have registered a case after a Chennai based stockist accused the actor and seven others of cheating him for an amount of Rs20 lakh. 

The Chennai city police has registered a case against actor Hrithik Roshan, and seven other individuals, after a complaint was registered by a stockist in Kodangaiyur on Monday (27 August). The complainant, R Muralidharan, said that he had been appointed as a super stockist for the range of perfumes connected with the HRX brand, launched and promoted by Hrithik in 2014. However, the company had not paid him dues amounting to Rs20 lakh.

According to a report in The Hindu, a daily, Muralidharan said that he was introduced to Hrithik as the owner of the brand. Once the brand changed hands, the stockist had to return unsold goods to the firm. According to the complainant, the firm has not yet paid back the Rs20 lakh owed as dues. 

Launched in November 2013, HRX is a lifestyle brand that is co-owned by Hrithik and Exceed Entertainment. While it was operated by XS Brands Consultancy Private Limited, online fashion website, Myntra, acquired a 51% stake in the corporation in 2016.   

According to a report in Times of India, another daily, the case was registered in June. The Chennai city police in Kodangaiyur have registered a case under Section 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) against the eight indviduals.
