Mitron song: Atif Aslam evokes old memories in ‘Chalte Chalte’

After ‘Sawarne Lage’ where Avni realized her emerging feelings for Jai, in the newest song from Nitin Kakkar’s Mitron, it is now Jai’s turn. In ‘Chalte Chalte’, sung by Atif Aslam, an old classic is recreated. Taking the music of Ghulam Mohammed and the lyrics of Kaifi Azmi, the song has been upended for this contemporary film.

Originally picturized on Meena Kumari’s Sahibjaan in the Kamal Amrohi film, this time around only the mukhda of Pakeezah’s (1972) ‘Chalte Chalte’ has been retained. Instead of a female voice, this song is told from a male perspective, showing the closeness of Jai and Avni as they work together on their food truck business.

Mitron’s ‘Chalte Chalte’ has been composed by Tanishk Bagchi who also wrote the new lyrics for this updated version. The composition has been kept largely simple, not letting the music overpower the lyrics and just letting them flow. Which is why this recreation feels familiar and nostalgic.

Mitron, written by Sharib Hashmi, is due to be released on 14 September.
