Kerala floods: Amitabh donates personal items, Sushant Singh Rajput chips in with Rs1 crore!

The true nature of a nation’s unity is reflected in the tough times. Indian have come out to help fellow citizens in the flood ravaged state of Kerala. From politicians, film celebrities to the general public, help is pouring in from all corners.

Last week, Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, AR Rahman, Sonam Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Vidya Balan and Siddharth Roy Kapur made their contributions for the flood victims. Apart from the monetary contribution (reportedly to the tune of Rs51 lakh), Bachchan is said to have given his personal belongings towards the relief fund too.  

A report in the Times of India, a daily, quoted a source as saying, "Mr Bachchan has sent six cartons of his personal belongings, that includes around 80 jackets, 25 pants, 20 shirts, and lots of scarves. He has also donated 40 pairs of shoes.” 

Meanwhile, actor Sushant Singh Rajput donated a whopping Rs1 crore for the state after being inspired by a fan. The fan had tweeted to Rajput saying he wants to donate food for the victims but didn't know how to go about it. The actor, in reply, promised to chip in with Rs1 crore and also ensure it reaches the people in need.

“As promised my friend, @subhamranjan66, what you wanted to do has been done. You made me do this, so be extremely proud of yourself. You delivered exactly when it was needed. Lots and lots of love. FLY. Cheers,” Rajput tweeted. 

The fan was naturally thrilled the Raabta (2017) actor's gesture.  

"Proud moment! Thank you @itsSSR for your kindness. Much appreciated. #HelpKerala #KeralaFloodRelief," tweeted the fan.

The flood in Kerala has ravaged the state, claiming 370 lives so far, besides damaging crop worth Rs20,000 crore and leaving thousands homeless.
