Loveratri 'Akh Lad Jaave' song: Traditional lyrics go well with Tanishk Baghchi's groovy score

Though the garba dance form is central to Loveratri's plot, it does not stop the Salman Khan-produced film from featuring traditional and light tracks. With 'Akh Lad Jaave', looks like there is more to Loveratri’s music than just garba and folk.

Here is a soft, groovy track that rides on lyrics with a very desi tone. It wouldn’t be wrong to call this song a fusion of desi lyrics and pop-music.

The lyrics have been penned by Tanishk Bagchi and Badshah, who has also sung parts of the song. Now, the verses by Badshah will probably sound similar, not in text, but in tone, to the 'Tarefaan' song from Veere Di Wedding (2018). Also, it is not often that you find a song having the singer say 'shuru' (begins) and 'khatam' (stop) at the beginning and the end of the song. 

Badshah’s rhyme is backed by Bagchi’s soft, groovy score. While his music is largely pop-based, Bagchi has interspersed desi beats in the intro and towards the end of the song. 

Such a track doesn’t require fast paced choreography but simple groovy moves do the trick. Newcomer Warina Hussain has the sensuous look in her eyes, but falls a tad short in her dance. Aayush Sharma, who also makes his debut, doesn’t look comfortable on the dance floor. Perhaps, Hussain is hampered by her co-star’s limitations. 

As for the singing, Jubin Nautiyal, Asees Kaur, and Badshah each have have a distinct voice and the trio combine to present an engrossing number. Kaur and Nautiyal have an effortless ease about them that emotes the anxious, sensuous moods of Sharma and Hussain’s characters.  

All in one all, 'Akh Lad Jaave' is a foot-tapping and a thoroughly enjoyable dance number. 

Loveratri is set to be released on 5 October.
