In Uttar Pradesh, life could be in danger for young people in love. Using footage from actual news reports, the trailer of Hotel Milan shows the police rounding up and self-appointed goons beating up these ‘Romeos’ who are allegedly 'plaguing society'.
Two unemployed friends, Vipul and Saurabh (played by Kunaal Roy Kapur and Zeishan Quadri, respectively) decide to open a business. They open Hotel Milan where rooms are let out by the hour. However, the friends’ business is thwarted by a local political party’s youth wing worker Goldie Kaushik (Jaideep Ahlawat), who is hell-bent on shutting them down.
Written by Aabhar Dadhich and Vishal Mishra, Hotel Milan tackles the rise of hooliganism and anti-Romeos squads in north India. The result is a muddled mess, however.
The trailer packs in a lot in two minutes while showing the mere basics of the characters. Vipul’s girlfriend Shaheen (newcomer Karishma Sharma) doesn’t even get a chance to utter one word.
While the film is trying to address relevant issues of the youth, its method leave a lot to be desired. Produced by Haresh Patel, Hotel Milan is due to be released on 14 September.
