The last episode of season one ended with Karenjit (Sunny's birth name) receiving hate letters from everybody and people starting to look down upon her familly. The family is ostracised by the Sikh community and not even allowed to enter the local gurdwara in Canada.
Sunny began her career as an adult film star to tide over the difficult financial times her family faced in Canada. She then came to India, participated in television reality show Bigg Boss, which opened the doors for her into the Indian entertainment space. While she has struggled as an actress, Sunny has garnered praise for her item numbers in films.
The life of Sunny has also been captured in Dilip Mehta’s Mostly Sunny, but it didn’t have the blessings of Sunny. The documentary has not been released in India so far.
