After Vinil Mathew's Hasee Toh Phasee (2014), actor Sidharth Malhotra and actress Parineeti Chopra are back together in director Prashant Singh's first film Jabariya Jodi.
Produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shailesh R Singh, Jabariya Jodi began filming on 10 August in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, and the first posters have emerged since the cameras began rolling.
The two posters show the leads in character for the first time. Malhotra plays a slightly rakish character named Abhay from north India while Chopra is Babali, a more modern girl who crosses path with Abhay. In the first poster, the pair are closely seated on a small bench in a lane lined up with food stalls with interesting names like WhatsApp Chowmein and Murg Donalds.
While in the second, Abhay tries to take a selfie of him, Babali and an unconscious groom on a velvet throne meant for a wedding. In both posters, their characters are flirting with each other.
Jabariya Jodi is said to address the growing issue of groom kidnappings in north India. Abhay is reportedly one such thug who helps kidnap grooms for brides' families so they don't have to pay any dowry.
Besides Malhotra and Chopra, actors Aparshakti Khurana, Sanjai Mishra, Neeraj Sood, Gopal Dutt, Jaaved Jaaferi and Chandan Roy Sanyal are also part of Jabariya Jodi. The film, written by Raaj Shaandilyaa, will likely be released in 2019.
