'Swag Saha Nahi Jaaye' song: Sonakshi Sinha is the happy bride on the dance floor

Composed by Sohail Sen, the first song from Happy Phirr Bhaag Jayegi is sung by Neha Bhasin, Shadab Faridi and Sen.

The story of Mudassar Aziz's Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi has added Sonakshi Sinha to its cast of misfits on an adventure, and with good reason. The song 'Swag Saha Nahi Jaaye' shows the energy, style, and very Punjabi feel that the actress can bring to the film. She takes the stage front and centre as the bride enjoying her own wedding in this wedding number.

While the visuals in the song are set mainly on Happy having a gala time, there are some scenes interspersed in the middle that raise questions. The song hints that the actress might have to choose between Jassi Gill and Jimmy Sheirgill's characters to be her groom.

But that seems to be the least of her worries. The song, composed by Sen, is a twist of a popular Hindi film song 'Reshmi Salwar Kurta Jaali Ka' from Naya Daur (1957) but adapts only the mukhda. The changes to the lyrics, written by director Aziz himself, are fairly good and catchy. Sen keeps the music upbeat, without letting the energy drop at any point. This makes it worth singing along too.

Yet, the song has some elements that seem too familiar, lending it a dated style. Sinha's energy on screen makes up for it though. Neha Bhasin, Shadab Faridi and Sen make up the rest with their high tempo vocals, and perfect balance. In all, this is everything a Punjabi wedding would have - drama, dance, and people letting themselves go.

Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi is set to be released on 24 August.
