Amar Kaushik's film Stree has the rare honour of being a horror-comedy, with Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor leading the cast. While the trailer was a laugh riot, the first song from the film is an enjoyable dance number.
'Milegi Milegi', sung by Mika Singh and composed by Sachin-Jigar, carries just the right amount of zest to light up the speaker console.
The unique treatment of the song is not limited to its singing, but also to the picturisation. Set as a dance battle at Pankaj Tripathi's royal court, the song begins with the sight of Rao and Kapoor getting down on the dance floor, as Singh's voice rings out.
Rao gets to display his high energy style, and matches Kapoor move to move. The actress, though has no voice in the song, does bring some charm with her expressions.
Sachin-Jigar's composition is fast-paced, rhythmic and hyphenated by the right beats that keep the energy high. The middle section of the song also offers an interesting segue, with the composers using Singh's vocals as a pause before the energy picks up again. The combination of the quirky dance moves, and Vayu's lyrics make the song even more interesting.
With its beats and rhythm, this might prove to be a very popular number.
Stree is set to be released on 31 August.
