After famously playing Dr JC Asthana in Munna Bhai MBBS (2003), actor Boman Irani will again don the doctor's coat for Maddock Films' Made In China. The announcement of Irani's casting was made today by the production company.

Irani joins castmates Rajkummar Rao and Mouni Roy in the quirky comedy directed by Mikhil Musale. Rao plays a Gujarati businessman wanting to make it big. Egged on by his wife (Roy), he decides to go to China and try his luck. Roy approaches Irani, who plays a doctor, for a business opportunity and after much persuasion he agrees.

The film is due to go on floors in Ahmedabad this September and is expected to be released in the summer of 2019.

Irani, who is recovering from a slipped disc, revealed he almost didn't take on the film. But since director Dinesh Vijan, with whom he has worked on films like Being Cyrus (2005) and Cocktail (2012), had introduced Musale to him, Irani decided to give it a hearing.

"Dino (Dinesh) came across and introduced me to a bunch of young boys saying he was confident I’d work it out with them. I discussed my role, the subject and the treatment in detail with director Mikhil Musale. A single session extended to four-five follow-up meetings and I’m on," he told Mumbai Mirror, a tabloid.

Irani has also played in a doctor in Bluffmaster! (2005), Shaadi Se Pehle (2006), Yuvvraaj (2008) and Kambakkht Ishq (2009). He last played a doctor in the National Award-winning Marathi film Ventilator (2016).
