After a big drop in earnings on Thursday (16 August), director Reema Kagti’s Gold managed to get back on track on collections yesterday (17 August). The film, starring Akshay Kumar, made Rs10 crore in the day in India, as per figures shared by Boxofficeindia.com.

On Wednesday (15 August, Independence Day), Gold opened to a big number of Rs25.25 crore and proved to be Akshay’s highest opener ever. The next day the earnings dropped to Rs8 crore.

Gold’s total collections currently stand at Rs43.25 crore. The film is made at an estimated budget of Rs85 crore. So, it needs to earn well during this weekend (18 and 19 August).

Meanwhile, Milap Milan Zaveri’s Satyameva Jayate also saw a major drop on Thursday (16 August) as it made Rs7.50 crore after a remarkable opening of Rs18.50 crore on 15 August. The film, starring John Abraham and Manoj Bajpayee, earned the same amount yesterday too.

The film is performing better than what was expectated. Furthermore, the film’s estimated budget of Rs50 crore is much lower than Gold's. With Rs33.50 crore already in its kitty, it stands the chance of touching the cost of production by the end of the weekend.

All in all, the earnings of the weekend will be vital for both films.
