Batti Gul Meter Chalu song: Shahid Kapoor annoys Shraddha Kapoor in ‘Gold Tamba’

The love song, composed by Anu Malik, revolving around comparisons doesn't measure up.

Sonal Pandya

The first song from Shree Narayan Singh's Batti Gul Meter Chalu seems to be a remnant from the 1990s, both in terms of composition and picturization. It fits right in with what Anu Malik would have composed for any David Dhawan film, in his heyday.

The song, written by the film’s screenwriters Siddharth – Garima, is comprised of a lot of street lingo and broken English and fails to find any kind of rhythm. Sung by Nakash Aziz, the song incessantly poses the question to its heroine, ‘When you getting gold, why go for tamba (copper)?’. The exasperated heroine, in this case, Shraddha Kapoor, has no answers.

Meanwhile, hero Shahid Kapoor harps on, listing comparisons between Gabbar and Samba, Rambo and Raanjha, you get the point. This Anu Malik song does not belong to this decade.

Batti Gul Meter Chalu is due to be released on 14 September 2018.
