Hindi cinema recently saw a well-made road film in the form of Akarsh Khurana’s Karwaan, featuring Irrfan Khan, Dulquer Salmaan and Mithila Palkar. The genre will be explored in Marathi cinema with director Nisheeta Keni’s Marathi movie Bogda: The Tunnel.
The film has an interesting story of a daughter (Mrunmayee Deshpande) taking her ailing mother (Suhas Joshi) on a road trip during her last days.
The teaser of the film induces a positive feeling. Although it’s hardly 30 seconds long, it brings to light the interesting chemistry between Deshpande and Joshi’s characters. The gentle background music adds a soothing effect.
Rohit Kokate is also party to the trip. The nature of his character is not clear so far. He was appreciated for playing a difficult character with ease in Aadish Keluskar’s Kaul: A Calling (2016), which was his last film. The film also features Jayant Gadekar and Ajinkya Bhosale.
Bogda is Keni’s feature film directorial debut. She had directed a short film titled The Butterfly last year.
The film will be released on 7 September.
