Vidya Balan to play Jayalalithaa in biopic? Makers say cast not finalized

Unconfirmed news about actress Vidya Balan playing the role of late Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa in her biopic had been doing the rounds of the internet today. However, producers of the film, Vibri Media, said they have not finalized the cast of the film.
But they have revealed that the film will have a stellar cast. “We haven’t finalised on the cast yet. The film will feature prominent faces from Bollywood and South,” said an official statement from Vibri Media.
Well-known Tamil filmmaker Vijay will be helming the project which is currently in the pre-production stage. “Director Vijay is overseeing the pre-production work of the film based on the vision shared by producer Vishnu Vardhan Induri,” added the statement.
The production house is also producing the biopic on the late politician and film personality NT Rama Rao. Interestingly, Vidya will be essaying the role of his first wife Basavatarakam.
The producers already have a big Hindi film project in the form of Kabir Khan’s 83. The film looks back at India’s 1983 cricket World Cup victory. The film will feature Ranveer Singh in the role of India’s then captain Kapil Dev.
