Kangana Ranaut leads the way in Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi poster


The first poster shows Ranaut in character as Rani Laxmibai.

With her young child strapped to her back, the brave queen Laxmibai is the focus of this first poster from the film. Actress Kangana Ranaut, as the young queen, is centrestage in the poster which shows leading the way in battle for her troops.

Director Krish shared the poster on Independence Day (15 August).

Ranaut's queen is seen on a white horse, dressed in white, with body armour to protect her and her young child on her back. Her outfit in white is a nice take of the 'white knight' trope usually assigned to men.

Rani Laxmibai wields her sword with power and authority, with blood dripping off it. In fact, the poster depicts a lot of blood, indicating loss on both sides of battlefield.

In 1857, Rani Laxmibai led a rebellion against the British after she was asked to cede Jhansi to them. The brave warrior was killed in battle.

Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi has been written by V Vijayendra Prasad, with dialogues by Prasoon Joshi. The music of the period film has been composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and the lyrics are by Joshi.

The film is due to be released on 25 January 2019.
