The reviews haven't been great and there's not much to cheer for the producer, director and actor Kamal Haasan as his Vishwaroop 2 had a low opening day. The bilingual film has been made in Tamil [Vishwaroopam 2] and Hindi, and dubbed in Telugu and Malayalam. According a trade source, Vishwaroop 2 (Hindi) has made Rs 1.05 crore nett  on its opening day.

“The film has only made a poor Rs1.05 crore nett on it opening day. Kamal Haasan doesn’t have the following that he once had. Having Rohit Shetty [as the presenter] is not enough to pull the audiences in. The Hindi version  been has released in about 1,100 screens,” said the trade source.

The earlier film Vishwaroop (2013) was released across 1,100 screens too and it had made Rs1.89 crore nett on its opening day, as reported by Boxofficeindia.com. Vishwaroop had made Rs13.10 crore nett.

Vishwaroopam 2 review: Scores over the first part, but that's not saying much

According to an IndiaToday.in report, Vishwaroopam had made Rs93 lakh nett in Chennai on its opening day, surpassing the Rs92 lakh nett earned by Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017).

The all-India opening day figure is not yet out. According to a trade source, most trade experts have been requested not to post about the poor opening. One of the reasons for the low opening day numbers could be the passing away of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) patriarch M Karunanidhi last week.

The first film was made at a budget of Rs95 crore, while Vishwaroop 2 cost the makers much less, Rs55 crore.
