Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se trailer: Deol trio might fare better as they shift to 'dry' Gujarat

Directed by Navaniat Singh, the third film from the Yamla Pagla Deewana franchise will be released on 31 August.

Yamla Pagla Deewana (2011) managed to tickle the audiences’ funny bone despite being miles away from making any sense. The second film in the franchise, Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 (2013), failed to induce even a few giggles. Now the Deol trio — Dharmendra, Sunny and Bobby — are out with the third film, Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se.

Going by its trailer, one can hope this film to be better than the second instalment.

Yamla (Dharmendra), Pagla (Sunny) and Deewana (Bobby) are going about their unusual, larger-than-life lives as usual. However, this time around, they are forced to migrate to the 'dry' state of Gujarat where they once again land-up in hilarious troubles.

The trailer is more like a compilation of gags that make you laugh only here and there. It seems the makers have left no stone unturned to attract the masses. To achieve that, the film has cameos from the likes of Salman Khan, Shatrughan and Sonakshi Sinha, and even veteran actress Rekha.

In one of the scenes, a drunk Kriti Kharbanda, who plays Bobby’s love interest, utters a line in Gujarati which is a literal translation of Paresh Rawal’s Hindi dialogue from Tera Jadoo Chal Gaya (2000). Google translate at use, eh?

It is good to see the three Deols together, again. Dharmendra is able to pull off comic scenes even at the age of 82. The effort is truly commendable.
