Vasan Bala's Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota heads to Toronto Film Festival's Midnight Madness section


The action film, starring Abhimanyu Dassani and Radhika Madan, will have its world premiere at the prestigious Canadian festival.

After Manmarziyaan (2018) and Manto (2018), it's the turn of Vasan Bala's Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota to head to the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The action film be will screened under the festival's Midnight Madness section. The Indian film is the first to be selected for the section and will join nine other films that will be screen at 11.59pm every night.

Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota will become director Vasan's first film. His previous feature film, Peddlers (2012), premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, but remains unreleased in theatres. He also co-wrote the screenplays of Bombay Velvet (2015) and Raman Raghav 2.0 (2016).

The film stars Abhimanyu Dassani, son of actress Bhagyashree and Radhika Madan, along with Mahesh Manjrekar and Gulshan Devaiah. Produced by Ronnie Screwvala, Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota doesn't have an Indian release date yet.

Midnight Madness will open with Shane Black's sequel, The Predator (2018) and close with Gabriel Abrantes and Daniel Schmidt's Diamantino (2018). Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota will have its world premiere at festival; the screening date hasn't been announced yet. The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) will be held from 6 to 16 September 2018.
