Yoodlee Films’ latest production Chhote Nawab (2019) is currently filming in the city of Raebareli, near Lucknow, in Uttar Pradesh. The film, starring Akshay Oberoi and Plabita Borthakur, also features young actor Svar Kamble in a key role.
Kamble has acted in Chef (2017), with Saif Ali Khan, and the yet-to-be released film Chidiya, with Vinay Pathak. For the former, Kamble auditioned amongst 150 children to win the role of Ari.
In an online interview, Khan had said of his young co-star, "Svar is so natural that it became extremely easy to like him, connect with him. We had a great time on the sets. It was great working together and we also learnt a few lessons in being so natural from him."
In this latest film, Kamble takes on the role of a teenage boy, Junaid, who arrives in Lucknow from London to meet his Indian family and tries to fit in his traditional Muslim family. As he gets to know them better, Junaid develops a crush on his defiant cousin.
First-time filmmaker Kumud Chaudhary says the young man plays a pivotal character, “[Svar] is the heart and soul of the narrative and has a complex role to tackle. I am delighted how young Svar has risen up to the challenge and given it life.”
The actor is eager to take on a more grown up role. “Junaid in Chhote Nawab is an easily relatable role for me. It’s a coming-of-age role of a teenager who is dealing with a gamut of emotions and changes, even as he tries to make sense of a distinct cultural background that what he is used to. It's been fantastic working with the team,” he said.
Chhote Nawab is co-written by Kumud Chaudhary and Arshad Abbas Jaferi.
