Plagiarism row over IIFA tribute to Sridevi

A YouTuber Saba Arif has alleged that the video shown as a tribute to the late actress at the IIFA ceremony in Bangkok has been plagiarised from her own work.

In July 2018, International Indian Film Awards (IIFA) screened a tribute to the late Sridevi at their Bangkok event. The video, however, has invited trouble. YouTuber Saba Arif has alleged that the video is plagiarised from her own work in tribute to the actress.

In a Facebook post, Arif said, "To see the entire film fraternity tearing up after having watched the video that I made might have been the biggest privilege of my career, if it hadn't been for the fact that they didn't acknowledge me at all for having made it."

The video ,available on YouTube, was uploaded in March 2018 (a month after the death of the actress). carries some similiarities in style and editing with the video shown at IIFA embedded below. Arif's video is a compilation of several iconic moments from Sridevi's career followed by a one line description of the actress from critics and magazines.

The IIFA video, though, has a male voiceover, and also carries the watermark of the event at the bottom.

We tried to get in touch with Arif over Facebook, but did not receive a reply till the time of publishing this report.

As of now, IIFA has not made any statement regarding the allegation.
