The overwhelming response to Kaushik Ganguly’s Bisorjon (2017), a love story across the Indo-Bangladesh border, has already instigated hopes for a sequel. The film not only received multiple awards at the Jio Filmfare Awards East 2018, including that of best film of the year, but was also a massive hit among the masses.

According to a close associate of the director, “Bisorjon had struck a chord with the masses and a sequel is surely on the cards. But right now, the director is busy with Kishore Kubmar Junior. He will start working on the sequel only after that. It is likely to be titled Bijoya.” Bijoya marks the celebration at the end of Durga Puja after the bisorjon or the immersion of the idol.

However, the director chose to stay discreet in this regard, saying, “It is too early to talk about it.”

The award winning film features the director himself, Jaya Ahsan and Abir Chatterjee in important roles. The story is about an Indian, who accidentally crosses the riverine border with Bangladesh and falls in love with a Hindu widow. The film brings out the intricacies of love across border, nationality, race and religion.
