A few Hindi film artistes have come out in support of actor Salman Khan, who was convicted and sentenced to five years imprisonment in the 1998 blackbucks poaching case.

But there are a few who have dared to speak their mind and called for Salman fans to respect the court’s verdict. In 2016, singer Sona Mohaptra was attacked by unruly fans of the superstar when she slammed the actor for his controversial comments on rape in an interview to a daily. Forward to 2018, it’s actor Sofia Hayat who got rape threats from the fans after she praised the Bishnoi community for their resolve.

“Thankyou to the Bishnoi people who have shown that truth is stronger than money. Today a huge star goes to jail for shooting a sacred animal. We must celebrate this as a win for the Gods..for Mother Earth. I hope Salmaan does not get bail as it will send a strong message to anyone who wants to hurt mother nature and break the law,” Hayat said in her Instagram video yesterday.

The actress was then attacked by Salman's fans, one of whom threatened to rape Hayat.

Hayat put another video today wherein she hit out at the fans, reminding them that they represent the actor.

“Salman Khan fans have threatened me with rape. You can read my Instgram page to know what all they have written. My fans will never never issue such threats to a woman or anyone. The fans who have threatened me, I don’t know what all have you learnt from Salman Khan. You represent Salman Khan. The things which you are saynig today, rape threats, you are telling the world this is how Salman Khan’s fans are. I have nothing but love for you. I’m praying for you, [sic]" said Hayat.
