Resul Pookutty wins Maharashtra State Award for Marathi film Kshitij

Resul Pookutty has been announced the winner of Maharashtra State award for Best Sound Design for his work on Kshitij: A Horizon. The Oscar winning sound designer revealed the news on his Twitter handle yesterday (5 April). 

'Happy to inform you all that we have won the #MaharashtraStateAward for best Sound Design for the film #Kshitij. After so many years living in Maharashtra I been honoured with the Film fraternity here, I feel very humble about it and feel so happy!' wrote Pookutty. 

The film, directed by Manouj Kadamh, was awarded the UNESCO Gandhi Medal at the International Film Festival of India in 2017. Kshitij: A Horizon deals with the subject of farmer suicide, portrayed by a family of drought hit farmers who move to the city in search of a better life.
