Shoojit Sircar on October theme music: I thought it was magical
The latest, 'Manwaa', a beautiful melancholy solo number sung by Sunidhi Chauhan, shows both characters mostly separate, wracked with worries about something, or could it be someone?
'Manwaa' is composed by Shantanu Moitra, who also composed the theme music for the film. The lyrics of the song are written by Swanand Kirkire. He writes about a restless and weary heart that has gone crazy with separation. The song is a mature assessment of the state of the couple in question.
October is inspired from a personal incident, says director Shoojit Sircar
The video accompanying the song brings a new character to the fore, Shiuli's mother, played by animator and filmmaker, Gitanjali Rao, who is making her acting debut in October. A few glimpses of the close mother-daughter relationship are shown. The 'Manwaa' video ends with a shot of Dhawan staring out a window, with a tear running down his face.
The previous songs of October, 'Theher Ja' and 'Tab Bhi Tu', were composed by Abhishek Arora and Anupam Roy.
