The upcoming thriller, starring John Abraham and Manoj Bajpayee, gets a name and a releases. The film is titled Satyameva Jayate and will hist the screens on 15 August, up against Reema Kagti’s Gold (2018), starring Akshay Kumar.
The film, directed by Milap Zaveri who earlier helmed Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai (2010) and Mastizaade (2016), will bring the two actors back on the big screen after Sanjay Gupta's Shootout At Wadala (2013). Satyameva Jayate is produced by Nikkhil Advani and Emmay Entertainment.
The first still from Satyameva Jayate has Bajpayee holding a gun against John’s head. While Bajpayee seems tense, John looks calm.
The title, which means ‘truth alone triumphs’, suggests that there will be some hidden truths and secrets which the characters might have to uncover.
The film’s title and its release date also hints that it might have some patriotic elements. The producers of the film had earlier indicated that the film revolves around a police officer and a murderer.
Gold, also starring Mouni Roy, Kunal Kapoor, Vineet Kumar Singh, and Amit Sadh, is based on India’s first independent gold medal won in the 1948 Summer Olympics, held in London, England.
Since 2013, Akshay has enjoyed success with most of his films that released near Independence day. Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara! (2013), Entertainment (2014), Brothers (2015), Rustom (2016) and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017), all had decent holiday openings at the domestic box office.
