Actor Anupam Kher's latest nomination to the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) awards was a welcome surprise. The actor received a nomination in the Best Supporting Category for his work in the British series, The Boy With The Topknot. The actor ranks alongside Adrian Dunbar, Brían F O’Byrne and Jimmi Simpson in the category. However, the Hindi film industry was thrilled with the nomination for one of their own.

Anil Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra were among the first to send out their congratulatory messages to the actor. 'Congrats sir! So proud.' wrote the Quantico actress. Kher tweeted back his thanks.

The veteran actor also received congratulations from his 'old friend in Juhu', Anil Kapoor. Kapoor took to Twitter to send out his wishes to Kher. 'Congratulations !sir Anupam Kherji  .. your friend from Juhu India is very proud of you,' he wrote.

Farhan Akhtar was among the younger generation of actor-directors who congratulated the veteran for this achievement.

Kher is currently in London prepping for a new show, which has not yet been revealed. Kher's nomination follows Indian origin actor Dev Patel's win at the BAFTAs in the same category last year for Lion (2017).

With wishes flowing in, the actor might just have had a great start to the month of April.
