A day after KriArj Entertainment co-founder Prernaa Arora accused John Abraham for allegedly trying to blackmail her in relation to the upcoming film Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran, a press release was circulated claiming that the film is set to be released on 4 May.
Parmanu row: John Abraham was trying to blackmail me, says Prernaa Arora
Now, the fight has taken a legal turn with KriArj Entertainment filing a criminal complaint against John Abraham and his production company, JA Entertainment, with the Khar police.
News of the complaint was circulated late last night through messaging app, WhatsApp.
It read: “FIR has been registered by Khar Police Station against John Abraham and his company JA Entertainment after criminal complaint was filed by KriArj Entertainment for commission of various criminal offences including cheating, breach of trust, fraud, misappropriation of funds and copyright infringement due to John and his company duping KriArj Entertainment out of the crores of rupees invested by KriArj Entertainment towards the production of the film."
When contacted, Prernaa Arora told Cinestaan.com, “All that I can tell you now is that our legal team has a filed a criminal complaint against John Abraham and his company yesterday at Khar Police Station.”
Ramchandra Jadhav, senior police inspector at Khar police station, also confirmed to have received a complaint but said an FIR will be lodged only after an inquiry is conducted.
“We have received a criminal complaint from one KriArj Entertainment against John Abraham and his company. We will be conducting an inquiry and only after that FIR can be filed," the officer said.
Amidst the Parmanu row, one has lost sight of the third party involved — ZEE Studios — that owns the overseas theatrical, satellite, digital, and music rights of the film. So far there has been no official comment from them.
Cinestaan.com contacted ZEE Studios's businesss head Sujay Kutty, but he didn’t reveal much. “I suppose an FIR has been filed I too have heard the same," he said.
When asked about the the status of the film and whether it will be released on 4 May, Kutty replied, “At this point of time, we are all working on it. I wouldn’t be able to say anything now, but we are targetting a 4 May release.”
Our efforts to contact John Abraham yielded no response.
