It was reported that Bhumi Pednekar will be seen in a different avatar in director Abhishek Chaubey’s Son Chiriya. Her first look from the film just proved this. The Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015) actress shared a picture of herself on her Twitter handle that has her in a deglamorised avatar for the upcoming film, based on the infamous dacoits of Chambal.

The still makes it clear that the actress is playing one of the dacoits in this dacoit-drama, which also features Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead.

Pednekar is seen in traditional clothes with her head covered with one end of the sari, like an ordinary village girl. But the rifle hanging from her shoulder makes it clear that she is anything but ordinary.

In all her films so far, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017) and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (2017), Pednekar was seen playing a simple, middle class girl. But Son Chiriya will see her break her screen-image with what appears to be her most challenging role so far.

While speaking about her look and role in the film, Pednekar told Mumbai Mirror, a tabloid, “Abhishek is a master at creating characters and has crafted iconic protagonists through his films. My look is a stroke of genius. It was his vision that created a character who exudes vulnerability and yet is strong, gritty and bold. Working with Abhishek and Sushant has been one of my most fulfilling creative collaborations.”

While sharing her look from the film, the actress has revealed that they have wrapped up the film’s shoot. “SONCHIRIYA As we wrap up this unforgettable journey,Sharing a bit of me from this very special film,” she wrote.
