Sanju poster: Ranbir Kapoor's grizzled Sanjay Dutt stares into the abyss

Ranbir Kapoor's embodiment of Sanjay Dutt in the teaser for Rajkumar Hirani's Sanju has taken the fans and industry by storm. The actor managed to look every bit the part, as he played Dutt through the ages. The latest poster from Sanju captures the same element of intensity and intrigue, through a greyed, bearded Ranbir Kapoor as Sanjay Dutt.

The poster captures the intense looking Kapoor staring into the screen. The itensity of his eyes, and the accuracy of the look, justify Hirani's reasoning for choosing the young Kapoor to play Hindi film  industry's most controversial star. 

The look is also closer to Dutt's recent appearances, suggesting it reflects the last part of the film. This seems to be an attempt at reverse-engineering the story by Hirani. Even the teaser of Sanju alternated between timelines suggesting the director will be trying a new format of narration to capture the entirety of Dutt's life. 

Sanju is directed by Rajkumar Hirani and also stars Ranbir Kapoor, Manisha Koirala, Paresh Rawal, Dia Mirza, Sonam Kapoor, Boman Irani, Vicky Kaushal and Jim Sarbh. 

The film is expected to be released on 29 June 2018.
