Actress Andrea Jeremiah, who was one of the actresses in Kamal Haasan's Vishwaroopam (2013), is set to play the lead in a female-centric crime thriller, to be shot in the jungles of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Titled Ka, the film will have Jeremiah play a wild life photographer and will also feature well known Hindi film actor Salim Ghouse, who has done a few roles in Tamil films before.

On Sunday (29 April), work on the film began with a prayer at the Prasad Film Lab in Vadapalani, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

The film is to be directed by Nanjil, a short-filmmaker who is now turning on to features with Ka.

Talking to the media, Nanjil said, "The film's story takes place in a matter of 24 hours. Andrea will be seen sporting only one costume throughout the film. The title Ka, in ancient Tamil, means 'Forests'. Andrea heads to the forests for clicking pictures. But then, something happens there and everything changes."

The filmmaker confessed that he has no experience working on a feature film and admires the actress for agreeing to be a part of Ka after seeing his pilot project.

"We intend to shoot in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. We also will be shooting in Moonar and the western ghats. We are in the process of selecting the other members of the cast," Nanjil said.

The cinematography for the film will be done by Arivazhagan and the music will composed by Amrish.

The film's producers, John Max and Jones, said that they intended to dub this film in many languages as the plot of the film was common to all cultures.
