Vijay Sethupathi, Rajinikanth to team up for Karthik Subbaraj's next film

The first schedule for the film is expected to begin later in the month, with Rajinikanth expected to join in for a look test.

Sun Pictures might have pulled off a casting coup in Tamil cinema with their next film. The production house announced that actor Vijay Sethupathi will join veteran actor Rajinikanth in their upcoming film. The film is reportedly being directed by Karthik Subbaraj, and will see Sethupathi play villain to Rajinikanth.

The production house put out a tweet announcing the development on Thursday (26 April) morning.

Sethupathi is a frequent collaborator with Subbaraj, having worked in films like Pizza (2012), Jigarthanda (2014) and Iraivi (2016). The actor's stock has risen in the industry with his latest hit, Vikram Vedha (2017).

The new film, yet untitled, is expected to be made on a large scale.

Sun Pictures also produced Rajinikanth's Enthiran (2010) which went on to become a blockbuster.

The first schedule for the film is expected to begin later in the month, with Rajinikanth expected to join in for a look test.

Rajinikanth is currently awaiting the release of Pa Ranjith's Kaala, and later, Shankar's 2.0.
