The first trailer for the film, directed by Shashanka Ghosh, shows the four girlfriends dealing with highs and lows of life with a generous sprinkling of vanity and profanity.

The trailer of Veere Di Wedding opens with the four girlfriends having a heart-to-heart about their lives in a bar. They discuss their sex lives, their romantic interests, and life in general, with a curse word or two thrown in (yes, women are allowed to curse as well!). Welcome to the world of the Veeres, four close friends whose lives are all under upheaval!

Kalindi Puri’s (Kareena Kapoor Khan) boyfriend Rishabh (Sumeet Vyas) proposes to her, throwing her life upside down. Dealing with a demanding mother-in-law and planning a wedding, Kalindi might go crazy if not for her three friends played by Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania.

Talsania’s character had run away from home to get married and now a mom of a toddler; Bhasker’s character Sakshi is going through a divorce, while Sonam’s character has trouble finding a good man.

Amidst all the fun of the destination wedding, it is indicated in the trailer that Kalindi ends up breaking her engagement. Will her friends be by her side? It certainly seems so.

While the four gal pals aren’t brunching with mimosas at a cafe (à la Sex in the City), they do talk about their lives frankly. It’s good to note that the film is written by Mehul Suri and Nidhi Mehra, adding a female perspective to a film about female friendships.

The interactions between the four actresses comes off as real; they look like they are really enjoying themselves. However, these friends are much better dressed and styled than your normal gang of girls.

The trailer has already raised our expectations about what the final film will be like. Hopefully, the friends get their happily ever after all!

Produced by Shobha Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor, Rhea Kapoor and Nikhil Dwivedi, Veere Di Wedding is due to be released on 1 June.
