Fire engulfs Akshay Kumar's Kesari set; shoot put on hold in Wai

The fire broke out after an ill-timed bomb exploded during the shoot of a war sequence.

Akshay Kumar’s Kesari suffered a jolt when the set in Wai, Maharasthra was gutted in flames. A source closely associated with the film confirmed the incident. Akshay wasn’t present when the fire broke out.

“Akshay had packed up for the day. He wasn’t present when the fire broke out. Though the exact details will only emerge later, but from what has been communicated, there was blast on the sets, which led to to fire. A war sequence was being shot today. The entire set has been destroyed. Luckily, no one was injured. The team is to shoot for ten more days,” said a source.

Kesari is period based on the heroics of Sikh soldiers who fought under the British army against the invading the Afghans. Co-produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, Cape of Good Films and Azure Entertainment, Kesari is slated to be released next year.

Though there were no casualties, the shooting of the film has been put on hold.
