The shooting of Debarati Gupta’s upcoming film Onek Diner Pore was wrapped up a few days ago. The film's story revolves around four schoolmates who meet after 18 years. The film features Swastika Mukherjee, Sudipta Chakroborty, Rupanjana Mitra and Palomi Ghosh in the lead roles.

“It is a very personal film, like my directorial debut Hoi Choi (2013). It’s not that it reflects the stories of my life. Though all the characters are fictitious, it is true that while characterisation [sic], we, filmmakers take inspirations from our experiences in real life,” said the director.

In the film, Swagata (Swastika) manages to connect with all her batchmates through Facebook after 18 years. However, out of 150 girls, only four turn up for the gathering. These four batchmates have complex equations between themselves. Gradually, as they open up, secrets are revealed and images are shattered.

The story explores the complexities of success and failures and also looks into the realities behind an apparently content life. The film also underlines on the role that social media plays. “Social media has become an inextricable part of our lives. But we only post those things on Facebook or Twitter that we want to show to the world, the larger part of it remains hidden.

“We post photos of our marriage anniversaries but do not update the regular plights and ordeals that we go through in sustaining the marriage. The film highlights the regular hide-n-seek that we play with our own lives” Gupta explained.

The post-production of the film is under process. Gupta hopes that the film will be released in the coming winter.
