The first quarter of financial year 2018-19 hasn’t brought much cheer to the Hindi film industry with all the films released so far failing at the box office.

The Tiger Shroff-starrer Baaghi 2 is a hit, but it was released on 30 March. The releases in April have all been disappointing for the trade.

Yesterday's releases Beyond The Clouds and Nanu Ki Jaanu have been no different, according to BoxOfficeIndia.com.

The Abhay Deol-led horror comedy Nanu Ki Jaanu managed a poor Rs75 lakh nett on its opening day while renowned Iranian director Majid Majidi’s maiden Hindi film, Beyond The Clouds, also had a disastrous opening, managing just Rs25 lakh.

To be fair, the two films were never expected to set the box office on fire, but the opening numbers have been really disappointing. Nanu Ki Jaanu was made at an estimated budget of Rs10 crore and released across 750 screens in India.

The budget of Beyond The Clouds is said to be in the range of Rs15-18 crore, and this film too had a limited release (across 500-700 screens).

Meanwhile, the preceding week’s release, October, fared better than the latest entrants adding another Rs1.50 crore nett on its second Friday. The Varun Dhawan-starrer has so far made Rs29 crore nett in its India business. But this collection, too, isn't impressive given that the film has an A-list star and is directed by Shoojit Sircar.

There are no big releases scheduled for next weekend and the trade is likely to pin its hopes on the Hollywood fantasy film Avengers: Infinity War to bring in some much-needed cheer.
